The Bulldogs capped one of the finest performances in its indoor track and field history with a series of top times at the Husky Classic hosted by the University of Washington.
Freshman
Barry Keane set the tone on Friday in the 5k invitational, crossing the line in 13:58.85, the second-fastest time in Butler's indoor history.
Daniel Garcia ran a time of 4:01.32 in the section 6 invite mile. It was a personal-best for Garcia and the sixth-fastest mark in program history.
Bobby Johnson posted a lifetime-best time of 8:06.75 in the 3,000 meters, the eighth-fastest time in program history. His performance was good for seventh in the section 5 invite.
Evan Johnson won his section of the 3,000 meters in 8:15.38. That was the best time of his career.
On the women's side, sophomore
Josephine Thestrup won her section in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:45.70.
Freshman
Kelly Mindak crossed the line in 2:13.10 in the 800 meters. That was good for second in section 2 and a new personal-best for the Butler newcomer.
The Bulldogs also sent student-athletes to Bloomington, Ind., for the Indiana University-hosted Hoosier Hills meet.
Michael Carey was fourth in the mile, registering a time of 4:22.13.
Graham Stecz was seventh in the 400 meters.
The Bulldogs return to action Saturday (Feb. 17) at the Orange and Blue Open hosted by the University of Illinois.
