Butler football recognized 13 members of the team during the annual awards banquet recently. Players vote for the three Top Dawg Awards, and honor performances on the field. The Top Dawg Award recognizes the MVPs of offense, defense and special teams.

Junior wide receiver Pace Temple was voted offensive MVP for the second season after registering 65 catches for 1,075 yards, becoming just the fourth Bulldog in program history to go over 1,000 yards in a season. The unanimous First-Team All-PFL selection had five 100-yard games in 2017. His receptions per game and yards per game were both second in the PFL. He finished 13^th in FCS at 97.7 yards per game.

Senior Isaak Newhouse was named defensive MVP after he led the Bulldogs with 96 tackles. Seventy of those stops were solo tackles and the average of 6.4 solo tackles per game led the PFL and is eighth in the FCS. Newhouse was also a Second-Team All-PFL selection.

Newhouse also received the One Play Warrior award for having the most special team points and the Bulldog Pride Award for being the greatest representation of the program.

All-PFL First-Team kicker Drew Bevelhimer was named special teams MVP. Bevelhimer, a sophomore, made 16 of his 21 field goal attempts this season. His long was 46 yards. He also connected on 30 of 32 PATs.

Luke Sennett was selected as the team's Most Improved Player. The redshirt sophomore finished the season with 57 tackles. 37 of those stops were solo tackles.

Representing the offensive line for Battle of the Trenches were 2017 All-PFL honorable mention Dakota Sneed and redshirt junior Alex Peterson. Representing the defensive line for Battle of the Trenches was second-team All-PFL selection Chad Burdo. Burdo, a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree, led the Bulldogs with 4.5 sacks. He also had 7.5 tackles for loss.

Newcomer of the Year was wide receiver Stephen Dennis. The redshirt sophomore ended the season with 150 receiving yards.

The Unsung Hero Award recognized players on various scout teams. Freshman Gabe Montgomery received the honor for offense, freshman Joe Zuccari received the defensive award, and Justin Markus received the special teams award.

2017 Captains Will Marty, Duvante Lane, Connor Andras, and Newhouse were also honored.
