The Butler men's and women's cross country teams have been recognized by the U. S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as All-Academic Teams for the 2017 cross country season. To qualify, teams had to have at least a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
The Butler women had a 3.46 GPA this fall while the men posted a 3.35.
Freshman
Barry Keane was also recognized by USTFCCCA as All-Academic. In order to qualify for the honor, athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at regionals or as an All-American in the national meet.
There were 269 student-athletes named USTFCCCA All-Academic with women accounting for 63 percent of the total (169).
A total of 228 women's teams and 195 men's teams were honored by the USTFCCCA. New Mexico was named the women's Scholar Team of the Year, while Portland was tabbed as the men's Scholar Team of the Year.
