The Bulldogs picked up their fifth straight win with a 5-2 triumph at Cleveland State Friday afternoon. The result moves the Bulldogs to 6-2 on the spring season. Friday's match was played at the Medical Mutual Tennis Pavilion.
Butler picked up the doubles point with wins on the No. 2 and No. 3 courts. Those results started 2-0 days for Butler's
Spencer Lang and
Ari Gerstein. After winning their respective doubles matches, Lang and Gerstein also posted straight-set wins at No. 3 and No. 5 singles.
Lope Adelakun was the first Bulldog to get in the win column with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Mirko Radosevic at No. 6 singles. His victory gave Butler a 2-1 lead after CSU had won at No. 1 singles.
Lang and Gerstein's wins got the Bulldogs to four overall and clinched the team result. Cleveland State then won the No. 4 court in a third-set match tiebreaker.
Mason Dragos closed out the match with a three-set win over CSU's Matthew Terry at No. 1 singles, giving Butler the final 5-2 advantage.
Butler will remain in Cleveland overnight and then face Bucknell at 10 a.m. Saturday morning utilizing the Vikings' courts for a neutral site contest.
