Thursday Final Results
GENEVA, Ohio - After the second day of competition at the 2018 BIG EAST Swimming & Diving Championships presented by Jeep, Butler has accumulated 85 points and is just 12 points behind Providence for fifth place.
Megan Hanson was the top performer for BU in the 500 Free on Thursday. Hanson placed 19th overall with a personal-best time of 5:08.71. She now ranks fourth all-time on the BU top ten list.
Jacque Shrader-Goetz was close behind in 21st with a season-best time of 5:11.18.
Emma Harris placed 25th with a lifetime-best time of 5:16.88. Yet another lifetime-best time was posted by
Rachel Burke. The junior clocked in at 5:19.01.
Four Bulldogs swam well for Butler in the 200 IM.
Natalie Rohweder placed 18th overall with a personal-best time of 2:11.38. She now ranks fifth all-time on the BU top ten list. Joining Rohwder on the top ten list is freshman
Alexis Faith who placed 21st with a personal-best time of 2:12.51. Her time now ranks eighth all-time at Butler.
Megan Rush and
Sadie Texer also posted personal-best times. Rush placed 22nd at 2:13.24. Texer was close behind in 23rd (2:15.20).
Tori Horton was the top BU competitor in the 50 Free. She placed eighth in the B-Final with a time of 24.30. She came up with her personal-best time in the prelims (24.02). Horton now ranks second all-time on the BU top ten list.
Annah Van Gheem placed 21st (24.35),
Emma Spotts took 25th (24.78),
Harriet Davies placed 27th (24.81),
Grace Grzybek was 28th (24.85) and
Sydney Gurry placed 29th (24.94).
Butler also competed in the 200 Free Relay. The team of Van Gheem, Spotts, Davies and Horton placed fourth with a time of 1:36.05. This group now ranks second all-time in BU history. Van Gheem led-off with a personal-best 24.33 split. She now ranks fifth all-time on the BU top ten list. Spotts posted a 24.21 split and Davies was in at 23.87. Horton was the last swimmer. Her split was recorded at 23.64.
Day 3 will begin at 10 a.m. ET with the prelims for the 400-IM, 100-fly, 200-free, 100-breast, 100-back and the women's one-meter diving with the finals being run in the fifth session of the championships at 6 p.m. ET on Friday. The finals of the 400-medley relay will close out the session.
