Butler won its second consecutive match, posting a 4-3 decision over visiting Cleveland State Sunday afternoon at the Butler Tennis Bubble in Indianapolis.
The Bulldogs improve to 2-4 on the spring season.
After Cleveland State took the doubles point, the Bulldogs took the match by claiming four singles courts.
Butler started singles play at 1-1 after Cleveland State had to forfeit the No. 6 singles position.
Bailey Padgett (No. 1) and
Rachel Sutton (No. 2) won the top two singles positions in three sets. CSU took courts No. 3 and No. 4. The match came down to
Nina Bertino against Anastasia Perin at No. 5 singles.
The Butler sophomore won 6-2, 6-3 to clinch the match for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs return to action with a pair of matches on Wednesday (Feb. 7), traveling to the University of Indianapolis at noon before hosting DePauw at 5:30 p.m.
