The Bulldogs picked up a hard-fought win Thursday evening, beginning a three-match homestand with a 4-3 result over the University of Indianapolis.
Butler's
Ari Gerstein clinched the match with a three-set win at No. 6 singles. After dropping the first set to Matteo Videau, Gerstein battled all the way back to take a 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win.
The Bulldogs took two of the three doubles matches to clinch the opening point. Gerstein and teammate
Adrian Mag won at No. 3 doubles by a score of 6-4.
In singles action,
Spencer Lang and
Michael Dickson each won matches at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Those two matches put the Bulldogs in position to take the team result thanks to Gerstein's efforts.
The Bulldogs are now 3-2 on the young season. UIndy, ranked No. 10 in NCAA Division II, suffers their first loss of the spring.
Butler returns to action Friday, hosting Youngstown State at 4 p.m. The Bulldogs conclude the homestand Saturday when Valparaiso visits the Butler Tennis Bubble.
