Butler dropped a close 4-3 match against IUPUI Friday afternoon at the West Indy Racquet Club. The host Jaguars won the doubles point before the teams split six singles matches for the final result.

Emily Neal won her match at No. 2 singles by a score of 6-1, 6-1 over Krystal Grubb. Neal also teamed with freshman classmate Lauren Marx for a 6-0 win at No. 2 doubles.

Nina Bertino took her match at No. 4 singles, while Callie Schmit also won in straight sets at the No. 6 spot, 6-3, 7-6 (1).

IUPUI's duo of Marina Schneiger and Molly Nguyen were able to secure the doubles point with a 7-6 (4) win at No. 3 doubles. That result came after the teams split 6-0 decisions at the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles spots.

Butler is now 3-6 on the season.

The Bulldogs return to action Saturday, traveling to BIG EAST rival Xavier.
