The Bulldogs dropped a narrow 4-3 Saturday afternoon to Illinois State. The match was played on the Redbirds' home courts in Normal, Ill.
Butler picked up the doubles point as
Rachel Sutton and
Emily Neal won a 6-4 decision at No. 2 doubles. The Bulldogs won the No. 3 match by default.
In singles play, freshman Neal won 6-3, 6-4 over Estelle Vanthier on the third court. The Bulldogs also won the sixth court by default.
After the result, Butler is now 6-11 on the season. ISU is 9-4 on the spring.
The Bulldogs return to action with three matches in Florida as part of the team's annual Spring Break trip, beginning with two on Tuesday.
