The Butler women's golf team is in first place after 18 holes at the Benbow Invitational. The teams competing include St. John's, Quinnipiac, Monmouth, The Citadel, Lehigh, Valparaiso, Eastern Illinois, and Chicago State.
The Bulldogs shot a 17-over 305 on the 6,102-yard Blue Sky Golf Club in Jacksonville, Fla. Butler has a one-stroke lead over St. John's. Quinnipiac (310, +22) rounds out the top three.
Junior
Lauren Tibbets shot an even 72 to land herself in first place after the first day of competition. She has a three-stroke lead over St. John's Alejandra Sanchez and Linda Wang.
Kelsey McDougall and
Abigail Gleixner both shot a 76 to tie for fourth with Quinnipiac's Alexandra Sazhin and Monmouth's Nicole Totland.Â
Rachel Gathof (81, T21) and
Betsy Werner (85, T34) round out the Butler five.
Play concludes Tuesday with a shotgun start at 8 a.m.
