Butler's women ran away from the field to post a 23-shot win at the Bulldog Florida Invitational in Jacksonville, Fla.
The Bulldogs shot 325 in Thursday's final round, which was 19 shots better than any other team. Combined with the 331 that Butler shot Wednesday, Butler posted a 36-hole score of 656, 23 shots better than Monmouth.
Lauren Tibbets and
Abigail Gleixner tied for second individually, each shooting a 36-hole score of 156. Felicia Davenport of Chicago State also shot 156, but won the event due to a tiebreaker.
Tibbets shot 75 on Thursday, tying Davenport for the best round of the day. She shot 81 Wednesday. Gleixner shot 78 both days.
Kelsey McDougall finished in a tie for sixth (85-84—169), and was followed by Butler teammates
Rachel Gathof (87-88—175) and
Allison Kinsinger (89-91—180) in a tie for 14
th and 17
th, respectively.
Betsy Werner shot 85 Thursday and finished the event tied for 22
nd.
Monmouth finished second, followed by Eastern Illinois (709), Chicago State (717), and Fairfield (756).
Butler has finished both of its Spring Break events. The Bulldogs' next event is also in Florida as Butler will travel to DeLand, Fla., March 24-26 for the Stetson Invitational.
