OSCEOLA, Fla. – The Bulldogs posted a 5-1 win over Saint Peter's on Friday afternoon to tie the school record for consecutive wins. BU is now 9-0 on the year with the victory. They will face Pittsburgh tomorrow at 11 AM.
Butler trailed Saint Peter's 1-0 after two full innings, but would knot the score at 1-1 in the top of the fifth. The go-ahead run came in the seventh and BU was able to add insurance in the ninth with a three-run inning.
Connor Mitchell got the start and tossed 5.1 innings of action. He was replaced on the hill by senior
Josh Walker who took BU the rest of the way. Walker's first win of the year (1-0) included seven strikeouts and no walks.
The Parker brothers put up good numbers for BU at the plate.
Gehrig Parker went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. He doubled to lead off the fourth and tripled in the ninth to scored
Tyler Houston.
Zach Parker went 2-for-2 for BU with a double and two runs scored.
Zack Parker scored the first run of the game for Butler off a wild pitch. He returned to the dish in the seventh to lead off the inning with a base on balls. A second walk would move Parker to second and the newcomer would swipe third with
Tyler Houston up to bat. Houston reached on a fielder's choice and would be credited with an RBI as Parker crossed home plate.
Houston's next at-bat in the ninth inning would include an RBI triple.
Gehrig Parker followed with a triple of his own to score Houston. The final RBI in the ninth would come off the bat of
Connor Dall.
Butler's next game will be played against Pittsburgh at 11 AM on Saturday, March 4.
