The Butler softball team will host in-state foe Ball State Wednesday in their first home match-up of the season. The Bulldogs are coming off a seven-game week in Tampa, Fla. posting wins against Florida A&M, Quinnipiac, and Lehigh.

Butler enters Wednesday's game with a 9-16 record, Ball State is 18-9. The teams met during the 2017 season, with Ball State taking the 7-1 win.

Junior Jenna Foreman continues to be an offensive threat for the Bulldogs, leading the team in batting average (.395), hits (34), runs (13), and stolen bases (20).   Foreman started all seven games in Florida for the Bulldogs, posting a .348 batting average with eight hits, five runs, and three RBIs. The junior was also successful in six of her seven stolen base attempts. In the eight-inning, 5-4 win over Lehigh, Foreman went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

Outfielder Alyssa Garcia has started 23 games for the Bulldogs and is batting .300 with 18 hits and two RBIs. She is also second on the team in stolen bases with five. In the win over Lehigh, Garcia went 2-for-4 with one RBI and a stolen base.

Another offensive threat for the Bulldogs is Kaitlin Doud. The junior is leading the team in slugging percentage (.452), doubles (4), triples (2), and homeruns (3). Alyssa Lach is leading the team in RBIs with 12 and has three doubles and one homerun this season.

Doud has also been strong for the Bulldogs in the circle. She is 4-3 this season with a 4.23 ERA. In Florida, Doud went 2-0, posting wins over Quinnipiac and Florida A&M. The junior pitched 12.2 innings, giving up 13 hits and only one earned run.

She ended the week with a 0.56 ERA and allowed no extra base hits while striking out six. Doud threw a complete game, 5-2 win against Quinnipiac, giving up zero earned runs with five hits and three strikeouts. Doud earned BIG EAST weekly Honor Roll accolades for her performance as well.

Alyssa Graves has remained consistent on the mound for Butler. In her 72.1 innings of work she has struck out 62 and currently has a 1.55 ERA. The freshman has thrown two shutouts this season and has one save.

Following the match-up with Ball State, the Bulldogs begin BIG EAST play with a series at Villanova March 24-25.
