Senior
Bailey Padgett posted a pair of wins Friday evening as Butler and Villanova battled in a BIG EAST contest at the Tennis Bubble in Indianapolis. However, the visiting Wildcats would pull out a 5-2 team result.
Padgett defeated Lexi DeNucci, 6-4, 6-4, at the No. 1 singles spot. The senior also teamed with classmate
Jordan Minnick for a 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles.
Butler's other win came from freshman
Emily Neal, who won 6-4, 6-3 over Lindsey Evans at No. 3 singles.
Villanova took two doubles matches to secure the doubles point. Of the Wildcats' four singles wins, one came in three sets while another was a third-set match tiebreaker.
Butler is now 8-14 on the season and 1-2 in conference play.
Butler returns to action Sunday with another BIG EAST contest, traveling to Marquette. All three of Butler's remaining regular season matches are against conference opponents.
