Jordan Minnick and
Bailey Padgett combined for a victory at the No. 1 doubles spot Sunday, but Marquette was able to come away with a 7-0 win in the BIG EAST match between the two programs in Milwaukee.
Minnick and Padgett defeated Fleur Eggnik and Natalija Popovic, 6-2, to start things off Sunday. The host Golden Eagles responded to take doubles matches on the second and third courts to claim the doubles point.
Marquette took all six singles matches in straight sets. Butler freshman
Lauren Marx pushed her match at No. 5 singles to a second-set tiebreaker before falling to Isabella Franks, 6-1, 7-6 (4).
Butler is now 8-15 overall and 1-3 in BIG EAST matches.
Butler's final two matches of the regular season are at home and both are against BIG EAST opponents. DePaul visits Indianapolis on April 7 while Seton Hall and Butler will meet April 21.
