Kelan Martin Named AP Honorable Mention All-American

Butler senior forward Kelan Martin has been named an honorable mention All-American by the Associated Press. The AP made the announcement Tuesday, March 27.

Martin put together one of the greatest seasons in Butler history. While leading the Bulldogs to a 21-14 record and their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament berth, Martin averaged 21.2 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. His scoring average was second in the BIG EAST.

The unanimous All-BIG EAST First Team selection averaged 23.6 points per game in BIG EAST play, which led the league and was the best BIG EAST average since Doug McDermott averaged 27.7 points per game in 2013-14 en route to National Player of the Year honors.

Martin scored 743 points, which is the second-best total in Butler single-season history. He finished his career with 2,047 points, No. 2 in the Butler record book. His senior season included four 30-point games, 21 games with 20 or more points, and five double-doubles.

The Louisville, Ky., native is one of five finalists for the Julius Erving Award, presented annually to the nation's top small forward.
