@ButlerMBB and Seton Hall to Meet in BIG EAST Tournament Quarterfinals

2018 BIG EAST Tournament Bracket (PDF)

Butler will open the BIG EAST Tournament Thursday with a quarterfinal match-up with Seton Hall. The teams will meet at approximately 9:30 p.m. at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The contest will be broadcast nationally on FS1, while Mark Minner and Nick Gardner will call the game on 107.5 FM and 1070 AM.

The Bulldogs are the No. 6 seed in the tournament bracket after finishing the BIG EAST season with a 9-9 record. Butler and Marquette tied for sixth in the league standings, but the Bulldogs took the No. 6 seed behind a 2-0 record against the Golden Eagles in head-to-head meetings.

Seton Hall is the No. 3 seed after a 10-8 BIG EAST slate. The Pirates held the tiebreaker over Providence and Creighton, two teams that tied Seton Hall for third.

In the five years that Butler has been a member of the BIG EAST, the Bulldogs have earned a first-round bye with a Top 6 finish in four of the five years.

Seton Hall took both meetings against Butler this season, including a 77-70 decision Saturday night in Newark, N.J. The Pirates won 90-87 at Hinkle Fieldhouse Jan. 6.

The winner of Thursday's quarterfinal will advance to Friday night's semifinals, matching up with No. 2 seed Villanova or the winner of Wednesday's first-round
contest between No. 7 seed Marquette and No. 10 seed DePaul.
