Butler won its fourth consecutive match with a 5-2 victory at IUPUI Friday afternoon.
The win pushes Butler's record to 13-4.
Butler jumped out to a 1-0 lead by sweeping the doubles point.
Mason Dragos and
Aviv Ben Shabat took the No. 1 doubles match by a score of 6-2.
Butler took the first four singles courts to finish in straight sets as freshman
Michael Dickson (No. 2), Ben Shabat (No. 3),
Spencer Lang (No. 4), and
Ari Gerstein (No. 6) each posted wins.
With Butler holding a 5-0 lead in the match, the final two courts played a third-set match tiebreaker after Dragos (No. 1) and
Adrian Mag (No. 5) split the first two sets with their IUPUI opponents. The Jaguars won both of those match tiebreakers.
The match-up included a pair of coaches who are Butler alums. Butler coach Parker Ross played for the Bulldogs, while IUPUI is led by Brandon Currie, who is a member of Butler Athletics' Hall of Fame.
The Bulldogs have three regular season matches remaining – all against BIG EAST foes – prior to the 2018 BIG EAST Tennis Championships. Butler's next match is April 13 at Marquette.
