The NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee has announced the participants for the 2018 NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships preliminary competitions. The list includes two Bulldogs,
Johnny Leverenz and
Allie Vogeler.
Johnny Leverenz won the 1,500 meters at the BIG EAST outdoor championships in a time of 4:02.93. His PR (3:42.77) currently sits at 31
st in the NCAA and ninth in the East region.
Allie Vogeler smashed her Butler school record while winning the 400-meter hurdles for the second straight year at the BIG EAST outdoor championships. The junior crossed the line in 58.25 to take the top spot, shaving 1.22 off her previous school record. Her time is good for 37
th in the NCAA and she brings the 17
th fastest time into the region.
The preliminary competitions are scheduled for May 24 - 26. The University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida will host the East Preliminary and California State University, Sacramento in Sacramento, California will host the West Preliminary. The qualifiers out of these two regions will compete in the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championships held June 6-9 in Eugene, Oregon.
