Butler coach LaVall Jordan and his staff have announced the addition of 6-9 power forward Bryce Golden to the Bulldogs' program. Golden has signed a financial aid agreement and will join the Butler program for the upcoming 2018-19 season.

"Bryce is a high-character young man who has a bright future," said Jordan, who recently completed his first season as Butler's head coach. "He comes from a great family, has been coached at a high level, and has a work ethic that has been instilled in him. His size, athleticism, and skill set gives him the opportunity to be successful in the BIG EAST. Bryce brings a passion our fans will love. We're excited about his addition to our Butler Family."

Golden, of Winchester, Va., is completing his senior year at Saint James School, in Hagerstown, Md. He is rated a four-star prospect by ESPN and a three-star by 247 Sports and Rivals. Golden played for Team Takeover on the Nike EYBL circuit and was an AAU teammate of current Butler point guard Aaron Thompson.

As a senior, Golden averaged 15 points and eight rebounds for Saint James, which finished the campaign with a 19-10 record. He is a three-time first team selection for All-Washington County. He scored 18 points and had 11 rebounds to help the Saints beat Flint Hill in the championship game of the Mid-Atlantic Athletic Conference tournament. He shot 37 percent from three-point range.

Golden averaged 15.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game as a junior for Saint James against a national schedule, which featured six games against teams ranked in the top 25 of the national high school poll. As a sophomore, Golden helped the 25-6 Saints to their first MAC title in 15 years.

Golden helped Team Takeover to a runner-up finish at the 2017 Nike EYBL Peach Jam. He finished the circuit averaging 8.5 points and 4.5 rebounds per game in guiding Team Takeover to an 11-5 mark in the Nike EYBL play.

Golden joins fellow incoming freshman Markeese Hastings, a 6-7 forward from Wyoming, Mich., in Butler's recruiting class. Hastings signed with the Bulldogs in November.

The Bulldogs recently earned their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance. Butler is one of only eight programs nationally to win at least one NCAA Tournament game in each of the last four seasons. The Bulldogs concluded the 2017-18 season with a 21-14 record under first-year Butler coach LaVall Jordan. Butler returns a talented group, headlined by guard Kamar Baldwin and his 15.7 points per game average as a sophomore. Also returning are starters Sean McDermott and Aaron Thompson, along with rising seniors Nate Fowler and Paul Jorgensen.
