Scouting Toledo
Toledo is 16-27 with a game against Youngstown State on the docket this afternoon. The player to keep an eye on in the Toledo lineup is centerfielder Ross Adolph. The 6-1 junior is batting .335 with 10 doubles, six triples and a team-high 12 home runs. He is the team leader with 46 RBI and 41 runs scored. Defensively, Toledo will throw Kyle Bischoff. The true freshman is 0-1 this year with a 15.51 ERA.
Jarosz Jumps to Lead-off Spot
Sophomore second baseman
Zach Jarosz is batting .400 over Butler's last seven games. He recorded 10 hits in 25 at-bats and has supplied the team with five RBI and six runs scored during that span.
30-Win Mark
Butler went 31-20 last year to reach the 30-win mark for the first time since 2003. A win on Wednesday would improve Butler's record to 30-14. The school record for most wins in a season stands at 34, a total set in back to back seasons (2002-2003). Butler also reached 30+ wins in 1998 and 2000.
Tyler Houston Hit Count
Tyler Houston heads into the final eight games of the regular season with 66 hits. The school record for hits in a season at Butler is 81, a total held by Dale Mueller during the 2003 campaign. No other Bulldog between '03 and '18 have reached 70 hits in a year.
Look Around the League
With six conference wins, the Bulldogs currently rank fourth in the BIG EAST standings. The Hoyas occupy the third spot with a 7-5 record and both St. John's and Seton Hall are tournament bound with 10+ wins against conference foes. In order for Butler to remain in the top four of the standings and make the conference tournament they will need to hold off Creighton (5-9) and Xavier (5-10). They split a two-game series vs. Creighton earlier this season and are coming off a 2-1 weekend against the Musketeers.
Parker Lands on BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll
Gehrig Parker helped Butler to a series win over Xavier by batting .417 (5-for-12) in the series, .312 for the week (5-for-16). Against Xavier, he had three runs, four RBI, a double and a home run for two wins. In the only loss of the weekend, Parker went 2-for-5 with two runs. On Saturday's game to tie the series, he iced the game with a three-run home run.
