@ButlerWSoccer Adds Two Transfers

INDIANAPOLIS – The Butler women's soccer team is pleased to announce the addition of two players to the 2018 roster. Macy Miller (Carmel, Ind.) and Cassidy Blacha (Avon, Ind.) will each transfer to Butler after beginning their collegiate careers at Indiana. Each student-athlete will have two years of eligibility remaining.

Miller played in 15 games a year ago, making five starts. She scored a goal at Minnesota on Oct. 5 and ended her sophomore season as a member of the Academic All-Big Ten Team. As a true freshman in 2016, Miller played in all 20 games. She was named to the Big Ten All-Freshman team, the first IU freshman to earn the honor in three years.

Before attending IU, Miller played club soccer for Indiana Fire Juniors and was a four-time team captain. She led Carmel to a 2014 State Runner-Up finish. Miller scored 12 goals and dished out 15 assists during her senior season at Carmel. She was recognized as a 2015 High School All-American, NSCAA All-Central Region selection, Indiana Player of the Year, Hamilton County Player of the Year as well as a First Team All-State honoree.

Blacha is another former Hoosier that will now become a Bulldog. The talented forward sat out the 2017 season, but played in all 20 games for IU in 2016. Blacha scored two goals and added an assist during her sophomore campaign to end the year with five points. She scored the game-winning goal vs. Wisconsin and was an Academic All-Big Ten selection off the field.

As a freshman, Blacha was tabbed Boilermaker Challenge Cup Offensive MVP. Her first career goal was a game-winner in overtime against Baylor. Blacha played significant minutes in all 19 games and even started in two contests.

Before arriving on campus, Blacha played club soccer for Indy Fire Juniors and Zionsville Select. She won two state championships with Select along with the Midwest Regional League Premier 1 Division and Adidas Blue Chip Showcase titles. She finished her career at Avon with 51 goals and 35 assists. She was recognized as a high school All-American and also earned Gatorade Player of the Year accolades as a junior. Her senior season included 20 goals and seven assists.

Miller and Blacha will join a talented core of returners at Butler that posted a 13-2-6 overall record in 2017. The historical season featured Butler reaching the BIG EAST Tournament Championship match. Their impressive regular season resume allowed the team to make the NCAA Tournament field, marking the first time BU ever made the NCAA Tournament as an at-large selection.
