INDIANAPOLIS - A second-place showing by the 200 free relay team and other standout performances highlighted the Butler women's swimming team's performance at IUPUI over the weekend. BU competed against IUPUI and Eastern Illinois.
The combination of Serena Daley, Kaitie Ring, Allie Dvorchak and Lauren Scotti completed its swim with a 1:44.84 mark. It was less than 2 seconds behind Eastern Illinois. Scotti, who swam the anchor leg, clocked a 25.05 split to lead the group.
Lauren Lambrecht had an individual second-place performance, a 2:16.34 swim in the 200 fly. She was followed closely in the 200 fly by Megan Boebinger (2:17.57), who placed third. Lambrecht also placed fourth in the 200 IM (2:18.92).
Caitlin Weichelt was strong in the sprint freestyle events, placing third in the 200 free (2:00.35) and fourth in the 100 free (55.57). She also had a 2:36.50 time in the 200 breast. Scotti also had a third-place effort in the 50 free (25.41).
In the distance freestyles, Elizabeth Miller led BU and placed fourth in two events. After swimming a mark of 11:13.19 in the 1000 free, she registered 5:27.04 in the 500 free. In that same event, Sarah Gibbons touched out EIU's Beth Houghton for fifth place (5:36.16).
Cecilia Rose added a time of 2:21.50 in the 200 back, good for fourth place. She was followed closely by Ring (2:21.98).
BU's next meet is Saturday, Nov. 3 in Ohio against Atlantic 10 opponents Xavier, Duquesne, La Salle and St. Bonaventure. The Bulldogs will swim against former league opponent Youngstown State the day after that.
