Butler Picks Up Team Win At Valparaiso


VALPARAISO, Ind. - Two Bulldogs won individual races and the Butler swimming team picked up a win over Valparaiso at a triangular meet at Valpo. 

Megan Boebinger and Lauren Scotti were individual winners for BU, as Boebinger placed first in the 200 fly and Scotti in the 200 back.

Boebinger was the first to touch the wall in the 200 fly, clocking 2:17.18. She won her race by nearly 6 seconds in a landslide win. Teammate Lauren Lambrecht was third in the event (2:24.50). Scotti won the 200 back with a mark of 2:14.15. 

Caitlin Weichelt placed second in two events, the 200 free and 500 free. Her 200 time was 2:04.06 and her 500 time of 5:26.64 was just behind Olivet Nazarene's Samantha Elam (5:24.97). Weichelt was also the anchor leg of the 200 free relay which placed second at the end of the meet.

Butler defeated host Valparaiso 103-89. Olivet Nazarene was at the top of the standings at the end of the three-team event. 

The meet at Valpo was Butler's final meet of the season in preparation for the Atlantic 10 Championships. The conference meet is Feb. 20-23 in Geneva, Ohio.
