INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – A new conference schedule, three home meets, and a return to the Indiana Intercollegiates meet at Purdue will highlight the 2013-14 Butler swimming schedule. Head Coach Maurice Stewart has released the upcoming schedule which begins with a home meet as the Bulldogs host St. Louis, Xavier, and Wright State on Sunday, Sept. 29.
"I am pleased with the meet schedule that we have established for the 2013-14 season as we enter the Big East Conference," Head Coach Maurice Stewart stated. "This schedule will undoubtedly test our teams competitiveness early and often throughout the season."
The Bulldogs will kick off the month of October with a meet at Eastern Illinois which will prepare them for the Indiana Intercollegiates which will be held on Saturday, Oct. 26.
"I was happy to get the Indiana Intercollegiates meet at Purdue back on the schedule," Stewart added. "This will be a good in-state competition for Butler Swimming."
Four meets appear on the schedule during the month of November as Butler hosts Providence on Nov. 9, one day after competing at IUPUI against the Jags and Valparaiso on Nov. 8. Butler will travel to Xavier on Nov. 16 and end the month with the House of Champions Invitational.
"November will be a busy and exciting month of competition as we compete against two Big East opponents in Providence and Xavier," Steward said. "We will finish the first half of the schedule with the "House of Champions", Prelim-Finals Invitational at the IUPUI Natatorium, Nov. 22-24."
After a training trip to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., the Butler swimming team will host the 5th Annual Butler Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 26. The Bulldogs will host Green Bay (men), Evansville (men), Ball State (men), Valparaiso, Illinois State (women), Youngstown State (women) and Xavier.
The final two meets on the schedule will be held in February with the Western Illinois meet taking place on Saturday Feb. 1 and the Big East Championships will follow from Feb. 19-22.
