SEWELL, N.J. – The 2014 BIG EAST Swimming Championships will get underway today at the Gloucester County Institute of Technology in Sewell, N.J. Wednesday's finals session, which is set for 6 p.m., will feature just two events – the 800-yard freestyle relay and the 200 medley relay.
Four teams own the top seed times heading into Wednesday's competition. Villanova will swim in Lane No. 4 in the women's 800 free relay while Xavier sits with the second seed time and Seton Hall with the third. Georgetown, Providence and Butler round out the field.
According to the seed times, both 200 medley relays ought to be exceptionally competitive contests. Seton Hall owns Lane No. 4 in the women's competition with a seed time of 1:46.06, and Villanova will be next door in Lane No. 5 with a clocking that is just five-hundredths slower. Georgetown, Xavier, Butler and Providence finish out that field in order.
