INDIANAPOLIS -- The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced the 2014 Spring CSCAA Scholar All-America Teams today which are supported by Nike Swim. The Bulldogs made the list by holding a 3.48 GPA which was tied for the 15th best grade point average in the nation.
Head Coach Maurice Stewart instructed a swimming team of 25 student-athletes during the 2013-14 season. The groups spring GPA of 3.48 was tied with Boise State, Dartmouth and Gardner-Webb for the 15th highest GPA in the country during the spring semester. The Bulldogs held the best spring GPA of any BIG EAST institution and was the third highest in the state of Indiana (Ball State / 3.53, Evansville / 3.49).
"I am very proud of our swimmer's academic effort and commitment," Stewart said. "To receive the Spring 2014 CSCAA Scholar All-America award is a honor."
Team Scholar All America Award
The Team Scholar All American Award is presented to college and university swimming and diving teams, who have achieved a team grade point average of 3.0 or higher. The award is presented twice annually, once in the fall semester and again in the spring to recognize teams achieving a 3.0 in the semester coinciding with the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA/CCCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America is the oldest professional organization of college coaches in America. The CSCAA is dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming and diving at the collegiate level.
