Kirsty Legg Lowers School Record
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Junior Kirsty Legg continued a strong
summer running performance and broke her own school record in the
1500 meter run at the American Milers Club Series, held at Michael
Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis on Saturday, June 9. The meet
was set up to create qualifying marks for the Olympic Trials and
Games.
Legg placed third in the women’s 1500 in 4:17.78, breaking
the Butler record for the second time in three days. She
began the American Milers Club Series with a fourth place finish in
the 1500 in 4:19.14. That effort topped Ava
Hutchinson’s Butler record of 4:20.27 that had stood since
2005.
Also competing in the American Milers Club Series on Saturday was
former Butler standout Kris Gauson. He recorded a lifetime
best of 1:48.64 and placed runner-up in the Men’s
“B” 800 race.
Legg and Gauson will continue a busy summer of running with their
most important meet to date. Next up for the duo is the
British Olympic Trials at Alexander Stadium in Birmingham, U.K.,
June 22-24.
