National Coaches Recognize Four Butler Teams
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Four Butler teams have earned recognition
for academic success from their respective national coaching
associations. The Bulldogs were cited for academic
performance in the sports of men’s and women’s track
and field, men’s golf and women’s swimming.
The U. S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association
(USTFCCCA) honored Butler’s men’s and women’s
track squads as 2012 Division I Track & Field All-Academic
Teams. Butler’s women tied for 16th nationally with a
team grade point average of 3.40, just 0.10 behind national
runner-up Wofford (3.53). A total of 171 Division I
women’s teams were recognized as All-Academic Teams.
Butler also was among 85 Division I men’s teams honored with
All-Academic status by the USTFCCCA. Schools had to have a
team grade points average of 3.0 or higher to be eligible for track
and field All-Academic Team recognition.
The Bulldogs' men’s golf team earned Division I All-Academic
Team recognition from the Golf Coaches Association of America
(GCAA). To qualify for the honor, teams had to compile a
cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. A total of
80 Division I men’s golf teams were honored by the GCAA.
The Butler women’s swimming team was one of 143 Division I
squads to be recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Association
of America (CSCAA) with Scholar All-American status. To be
honored by the CSCAA, teams had to achieve a cumulative grade point
average of 3.0 or higher.
