Bulldogs Turn In Strong Performances At Two Meets
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Butler's track and field athletes competed on the west coach and in the midwest and turned in strong performances at both the Husky Classic in Washington and the Hoosier Hills Invitational in Indiana. Both multi-team meets wrapped up on Saturday, Feb. 9.
Sophomore Mara Olson led the way for the Bulldogs in Washington. She won the women's 3,000 meter run at the Husky Classic, covering the distance in 9:29.05. The Butler distance runner paced a field of 59 runners to claim the 3,000 meter title.
Butler also picked up a 12th place finish from junior Ross Clarke in Section 6 of the men's mile, a 14th place overall finish from senior Kirsty Legg in the women's mile and a 19th place overall finish from sophomore Tom Curr in the men's mile invitational. Clarke finished his race in 4:14.27, Legg ran a 4:54.91 and Curr posted a 4:03.14.
Back in Indiana, sophomore Nicole Hudec had another strong outing with a runner-up finish in the women's triple jump with a leap of 36-01.50. She also placed tenth in the women's 60 meter dash, matching her own school mark of 7.89.
Junior Alex Berry placed sixth in the men's 400 invitational in 49.43, while senior Kaitlyn Love finished seventh in the women's 800 invitational in 2:15.73.
