NEW ORLEANS - Track standout Katie Clark was recently named to the USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Team. Clark has earned this honor in each semester in which she's been eligible.
Clark, a native of the United Kingdom, won the 3000- and 5000-meter runs at the league indoor championships, capturing female athlete of the meet honors. Last February, the rising senior broke her own school record with a 16:21.21 in the 5000-meter run. Clark redshirted both the cross country and outdoor seasons in 2011-12.
“This is an accolade befitting of only the most elite student-athletes in all of track and field," head coach Matt Roe said. "In every semester that she has been eligible, Katie has earned this rare distinction. We are proud of what Katie has accomplished in the classroom as well as the sports of track and cross country."
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and have met either of the following athletic standards: for the indoor season, a student-athlete must have finished the regular season ranked in the national top 96 in an individual event or ranked in the national top 48 (collective listing) in a relay event on the official NCAA POP list provided by TFRRS.org.
For the outdoor season, a student-athlete must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
