Rob Mullett Named Horizon League Cross Country Athlete of the Week
Butler senior Rob Mullett, who became the
Bulldogs’ second individual champ of the young 2009 campaign,
has been named Horizon League Cross Country Male Athlete of the
Week for the period of September 14-20.
The Brighton, U.K., native placed first at the Indiana
Intercollegiate meet, hosted by Indiana State University on Sept.
18. Racing on the same course that will host the 2009 NCAA
Divison I Cross Country Championship, Mullett posted an 8K time
24:44.6 to pace the field of 170 competitors. His effort
helped the Bulldogs to a fourth place finish in the 21-team
field.
Mullett is the second Butler runner to win both a race and league
Athlete of the Week honors. Senior All-American Andy Baker
won the Great American Legends Meet on Sept. 4, and he earned the
league’s first weekly honor.
Butler’s cross country squads will have a week off before
returning to action at the Notre Dame Invitational on Oct. 2.
