Butler Women’s Cross Country Earns Academic Honors
Junior All-American Katie Clark earned 2012 Division I All-Academic Cross Country status, and the Butler women’s cross country squad was named a 2012 Division I Cross Country All-Academic Team by the U. S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The USTFCCCA announced its academic honors on Monday, Feb. 25.

Butler Freshmen Compete At U.S. XC Championships
Butler freshmen Olivia Pratt and Erik Peterson ran at the U.S. Cross Country Championships in St. Louis this past weekend. Pratt finished 11th and Peterson 16th in the junior race, only for runners 19 years of age and younger.

Katie Clark Earns All-America Recognition
Junior Katie Clark earned All-America honors, but a missing shoe may have cost Butler a chance at a best-ever team finish at the 2012 NCAA Division I Women’s Cross Country Championship in Louisville, Ky. The Bulldogs wound up 29th in the national meet on Saturday (Nov. 17).

Bulldogs Return To NCAA National Meet
Butler will be one of 31 women’s teams competing for a national title at the 2012 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday, Nov. 17. The Bulldogs, coming off a fourth place finish at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional, were one of 13 at-large teams selected for this year’s national meet.

Katie Clark Leads Butler To NCAA National Meet
Junior Katie Clark placed second in the individual competition and helped lead Butler to a fourth place team finish at the 2012 Great Lakes Regionals, hosted by Wisconsin on Friday (Nov. 9). Butler’s men, led by junior Ross Clarke, wound up ninth at the regional meet.

Bulldogs Seek National Bids At Great Lakes Regional
The Butler men’s and women’s cross country teams, looking to build on a pair of conference titles, will be competing for a berth in the NCAA National Cross Country Championship when they square off against some of the top teams in the Midwest at the 2012 NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday, Nov. 9, in Madison, Wis. The women’s 6K race starts at noon (CT), followed by the men’s 10K race at 1:15 p.m.

Bulldogs Compete At Hoosier Invitational
While the bulk of the team took the weekend off in preparation for the upcoming NCAA Regionals, a handful of Butler runners competed at the Hoosier Invitational in Bloomington. The non-scoring meet attracted runners from seven schools.

Bulldogs Sweep A-10 Cross Country Titles
Butler passed its first Atlantic 10 Conference final exam with flying colors. The Bulldogs swept the men’s and women’s team titles and captured the women’s individual crown at the 2012 Atlantic 10 Conference Cross Country Championship in Philadelphia, Pa., on Saturday, Oct. 27.

Bulldogs Face First Atlantic 10 Conference Championship
Butler will try to continue a long history of conference success when it competes in its first Atlantic 10 Conference Cross Country Championship on Saturday, Oct. 27. The league meet, hosted by Temple, will be held at Belmont Plateau at West Fairmount Park in Philadelphia, Pa. The women’s 5K race will start at 10 a.m. (ET), and will be followed by the men’s 8K race at 10:45 a.m.

Junior Katie Clark, who led Butler at the NCAA Pre-National Meet, was named Atlantic 10 Conference Women’s Cross Country Co-Performer of the Week. She shared the league’s weekly honor with Margo Richardson of Saint Louis.

Butler Women 11th, Men 15th At Pre-Nationals
Junior Katie Clark narrowly missed a “Top 10” individual finish and helped lead Butler to an 11th place team finish in the women’s red seeded race at the NCAA Pre-National Meet in Louisville, Ky., on Saturday (Oct. 13). The Bulldogs placed 15th in the men’s red seeded race.

Bulldogs Head To Pre-National Meet
The Butler men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete against some of the tops teams in the nation when they run in the 2012 NCAA Pre-National Meet on Saturday, Oct. 12. The meet, which features a number of nationally-ranked teams, will be held at E.P. ‘Tom Sawyer’ State Park in Louisville, Ky.

Andy Ponce de Leon Named Track/Cross Country Assistant
Andy Ponce de Leon, who spent the past two years on the coaching staff at Arizona State University, has been named assistant coach for the Butler track and field and cross country teams. He fills the vacancy created when former assistant coach Darren Gauson was named assistant coach at Lamar University.

Bulldogs Place 16th At Notre Dame
Sophomore Harry Ellis paced the Bulldogs in the individual competition and Butler finished 16th in the team race at the power-packed Notre Dame Invitational on Friday (Sept. 28). A total of 10 nationally-ranked teams competed in the 20-team Men’s Blue Race at the Notre Dame Cross Country Course.

Nationally-Ranked Bulldogs Earn Conference Honors
Junior Katie Clark and freshman Olivia Pratt, who helped lift Butler into the national rankings this week, have been recognized by the Atlantic 10 Conference for their performances last weekend. Clark was named Atlantic 10 Women’s Performer of the Week, while Pratt was tabbed Atlantic 10 Women’s Rookie of the Week.

Butler Races To Toledo Bubble Buster Title
Junior Katie Clark cruised to the individual title and Butler upset several nationally-ranked squads to claim the team championship at the 2012 Toledo Bubble Buster cross country meet, hosted by the University of Toledo on Friday (Sept. 21). It was the first full competition for the Bulldogs this fall.

Bulldogs Finish Second At Indiana Intercollegiate Meet
Sophomore Tom Curr finished third in the individual competition and Butler placed runner-up in the team race at the Indiana Intercollegiate Meet, which was held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center on Friday (Sept. 14). Indiana captured the team title in the 27-team state meet.

Several Butler runners will make their 2012 cross country debut when the Bulldogs head to Terre Haute to compete in the Indiana Intercollegiate Meet on Friday, Sept. 14. Butler freshman Olivia Pratt, who picked up an individual win in her first collegiate competition, has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Cross Country Rookie of the Week for the first week of the season. The league office announced its weekly awards on Tuesday, Sept. 4.

Freshman Olivia Pratt turned in a sparkling debut to highlight the performance of the Butler men’s and women’s cross country teams at the Illini Challenge on Friday (Aug. 31). Butler’s women placed second and Butler’s men finished fourth in the eight-team meet.
