Butler’s Katie Clark Earns Conference Recognition
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Junior Katie Clark, who led Butler at the NCAA Pre-National Meet, was named Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Cross Country Co-Performer of the Week. She shared the league's weekly honor with Margo Richardson of Saint Louis.
Clark, who earned the league honor for the second time this fall, placed 11th out of 265 runners at the Pre-National Meet, hosted by Louisville. The Hull, U.K., native completed the 6K course with a time of 20:14, finishing just one second behind Michigan State's Jilian Smith. The Bulldogs, ranked sixth in this week's Great Lakes Region poll, placed 11th in the 38-team field.
Richardson, a junior, finished third in a field of 222 runners at the Greater Bradley Classic. She covered the 6K course in 20:47, finishing just seven seconds behind individual champ Sara Hudak of UAB. Richardson's time set a school record for the Billikens, who placed second in the team competition.
Butler's cross country teams will have a weekend off before heading to Philadelphia, Pa., on Oct. 27 to compete for the first time in the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship.
