INDIANAPOLIS - Butler freshmen Olivia Pratt and Erik Peterson ran at the U.S. Cross Country Championships in St. Louis this past weekend. Pratt finished 11th and Peterson 16th in the junior race, only for runners 19 years of age and younger.
The two runners nearly qualified to run for Team USA at the World Cross Country Championships, only the top six finishers in the men's and women's races qualify to run at the meet held in Bydgoszcz, Poland later this year.
"Running the World Cross Country trial was a great opportunity for Erik and Olivia," coach Matt Roe said. "They both represented themselves and Butler well in St. Louis. Erik and Olivia have bright futures here at Butler and this experience will only allow them to grow and become more competitive at the national level."
Both Pratt and Peterson will redshirt the indoor season after being named the Atlantic 10 Conference Cross Country Rookies of the Year.
