Bulldogs Win UW-Parkside Open

KENOSHA, WIS. -- Butler captured the top three individual spots and cruised to a team victory at the UW-Parkside Midwest Open on Saturday, Sept. 14.  The Bulldogs out-paced Edinboro for the team title in the 15-team event.

Sophomore Erik Peterson claimed individual honors in the meet, covering the 8K Dannehl National Cross Country Course in 24:44.9.  He finished just ahead of teammates Tom Anderson (24:45.1) and Tom Curr (24:47.5).  James Martin placed fourth for the Bulldogs and seventh overall in 25:19.4, while Chris Kelsey rounded out Butler's scoring five and finished 12th overall in 25:36.2.

The Bulldogs finished with 25 points, while Edinboro placed runner-up with 40 points.  Indianapolis came in third with 88.  The meet was held on the course that will host this year's BIG EAST Championship.

It was the second competition of the young season for the Bulldogs but the first race for Peterson, Anderson, Curr and Martin.

Butler will return to action at the Indiana Intercollegiate Meet on Friday, Sept. 20.
