The Butler women sent a partial squad to the Indiana Intercollegiate Meet, hosted by Indiana University, and wound up placing seventh in the meet held on Friday. Indiana won the meet with 21 points, while Purdue came in second with 55. The Lady Bulldogs finished with 161 points, two points behind Evansville in sixth place.
Junior Erica Carlson led Butler, clocking 19:26.61 over 5 kilometers and finishing 25th in the Big State race. Freshman Kristen Seiler and sophomore Taylor Royalty were just steps behind, covering the course in 19:29.66 (27th) and 19:30.25 (28th), respectively. Freshman Maddie Westerhoff was 39th in a time of 19:56.84, while sophomore Stephanie Hanagan finished in 42nd to round out Butler's scorers. Indiana's Kelsey Duerkson clocked 17:28.14 for the individual title.
Head coach Roe sat the majority of his top runners for the state race, giving some of the newer team members a chance to compete. Among those who did not race is senior All-American Katie Clark, who has yet to race this season but is set to return for next week's competition.
