Tom Curr Headed To NCAA Championship
INDIANAPOLIS, IND. -- Junior Tom Curr has joined the Butler women's cross country team with an invitation to the 2013 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championship. The third-year Butler runner was one of 38 runners selected as an individual qualifier for this year's national meet.
Curr earned his trip to the NCAA Meet, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 23, at the Wabash Valley Family Sports Center in Terre Haute, with a "Top 25" finish at the Great Lakes Regional Meet on Friday (Nov. 15). He placed 16th overall in 30:43, while helping the Butler men to a sixth place team finish. Teammate Erik Peterson, who finished 18th at the regional meet, narrowly missed at-large qualification.
Also selected as at-large qualifiers from the Great Lakes Regional were John Mascari of Indiana State, Matt McClintock of Purdue and Caleb Rhynard of Michigan State. Notre Dame and Indiana earned team at-large qualification.
Butler's women's team will be making a return trip to the national meet, after placing runner-up at the Great Lakes Regional. Senior Katie Clark, who earned All-America honors at last year's NCAA Championship, led the Bulldogs at the Great Lakes Regional with a fourth place finish, while teammate Mara Olson came in ninth.
Joining Clark and Olson on the Great Lakes Regional roster were freshman Lauren Wood (15th), sophomore Olivia Pratt (16th), senior Kirsty Legg (23rd), junior Katie Good (26th) and freshman Colleen Weatherford (61st).
The Butler women will be making their fourth trip overall to the NCAA national meet. The Bulldogs had their best finish in 2005, when they came in 24th.
