Butler Earns Cross Country Academic Recognition
Butler’s men’s and women’s cross country squads have been named 2011 Division I Cross Country All-Academic Teams by the U. S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. The USTFCCCA announced its academic honors this week.

Butler Lands Eight On Academic All-League Teams
Paced by men’s soccer and women’s cross country, Butler landed eight student-athletes on the 2011 Horizon League Fall Academic All-League Teams, announced by the league office on Monday (Jan. 30). A total of 54 student-athletes from five fall sports were selected by a vote of the league’s faculty athletic representatives and sports information directors.

Bulldogs Sweep League Runner of the Year Awards
Butler sophomores Callum Hawkins and Shelbi Burnett have been named 2011 Horizon League Cross Country Athletes of the Year. The two Butler runners were chosen for the league’s top award by a vote of league cross country coaches.

Callum Hawkins Earns All-America Honors
Butler’s Callum Hawkins put the finishing touches on a brilliant sophomore campaign with an All-American performance at the NCAA Division I Men’s Cross Country Championship in Terre Haute on Monday, Nov. 21. The talented second-year athlete was one of two Butler runners competing in the national meet.

Callum Hawkins Earns Regional Honor
Butler sophomore Callum Hawkins has been named 2011 Men’s Athlete of the Year in the Great Lakes Region by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). He’s the first Butler athlete to receive the regional award, which has been presented since 2007.

Hawkins, Clarke Advance To National Meet
Butler sophomore Callum Hawkins punched his ticket to the NCAA cross country national meet with a championship performance at the 2011 Great Lakes Region meet in Toledo, Ohio, on Saturday, Nov. 12. And teammate Ross Clarke will join him at the NCAA Championship in Terre Haute.

Bulldogs Head To Great Lakes Regional
The Butler men’s and women’s cross country teams will compete with other teams from the Midwest for a berth in the NCAA national meet when they run in the 2011 Great Lakes Region championship on Saturday, Nov. 12, at Ottawa Park in Toledo, Ohio. The men’s 10K race will begin at noon (ET), followed by the women’s 6K race at 1:15 p.m.
