Baseball Signs Six To National Letters Of Intent

Baseball Signs Six To National Letters Of Intent

Head coach Steve Farley entered the 2009 off-season with the unenviable task of trying to replace 10 departing senior members from the spring, but the 18-year Butler mentor has succeeded in bringing in some of the top talent in the region for the upcoming 2010 campaign, signing six players to National Letters of Intent during the year.

The Bulldogs added a pair of high school seniors during the early signing period in the fall, namely RHP Jared Earle (Crawfordsville, Ind.) and RHP Joel Leichty (Cincinnati, Ohio), before inking four more players this spring, including RHP Kyle Kramp (Westfield, Ind.), SS Jack Krause (Chicago Heights, Ill.), RHP Billy Laing (Lake Bluff, Ill.) and RHP David Suffern (Glen Ellyn, Ill.).

Including the six signees, the Butler baseball team will boast a total of 14 newcomers on the 2010 roster.

"We are very excited about this incoming group of players," Farley said.  "With the loss of 10 seniors this past spring - including five pitchers - we needed to bring in some guys who could compete right away next fall.  We think we have done that.

"Besides being top-notch players, these guys are all solid students and good citizens.  With the addition of these players and the completion of our new indoor hitting facility, our coaching staff can't wait to get started with workouts next fall."
