Butler Inducts Five Into Athletic Hall of Fame
Five former students, including a mens soccer All-American and a two-time conference Player of the Year, were formally inducted into the Butler University Athletic Hall of Fame on Sunday (June 6). The Butler Hall of Fame Class of 2010 was honored at a special induction banquet/ceremony held in the Riley Room at Atherton Center on the Butler campus.

Butler got a strong start from senior Joe Ochs but couldn't solve UIC's Chris Kovacevich in a season-ending 7-0 loss at the Horizon League Baseball Championship. The Bulldogs finish the season 21-29.

Dawgs Fall In Tourney Opener, 7-3
Butler had an early 2-0 lead but couldnt keep it as the Bulldog baseball team lost, 7-3, Wednesday afternoon to Valparaiso in the opener of the Horizon League Baseball Championship. Valpo was spurred by stellar individual performances by Bryce Shafer and Kyle Gaedele. BU will play at 12 p.m. ET in a game where the losing team is done for the year.

Five Bulldogs Named All-Horizon League
The Butler baseball program, which just completed its best regular season with its most wins since 2007, has five players who were honored on this years All-Horizon League teams. Senior Kyle Schultz and junior Luke Duncan were named second team All-Horizon League while three juniors Kevin Crane, Corey Moylan and Kyle Waggoner were named to the all-newcomer team.

Butler Baseball Ready For League Tournament This Week
The Butler baseball team will be the No. 5 seed in this week's Horizon League Baseball Championship. BU will open vs. No. 4 seed Valparaiso in the tourney's first game on Wednesday, May 26 at 12 p.m. ET. The six-team tournament will be played in Gary, Ind., at the home of the Gary SouthShore Railcats.

Bulldogs Finish Sweep Over Cleveland State
Butler won two games over Cleveland State Saturday afternoon, and in the process locked up the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Horizon League Baseball Championship. BU won a pitchers duel, 1-0, in game one before outlasting the Vikings 9-5 in the second game.

Butler scored 19 runs in the 7th and 8th innings and junior Kyle Waggoner went 6-for-7 with a homer and scored four runs as the BU baseball team blew out Cleveland State, 22-8, Friday afternoon at Bulldog Park. Waggoners six hits was a single-game school record for hits.

Butler scored nine runs in the bottom of the 5th inning en route to a 14-0 win over crosstown foe University of Indianapolis. Sophomore Nick Hladek led the Bulldogs with a 3-for-4 effort and freshman Bob Akin drove in three runs. Six BU pitchers combined on the shutout.

In the fourth edition of the Butler Baseball Alumni Spotlight, we catch up with Paul (PJ) Longstreth 94, who was a right-handed pitcher at Butler from 1991-94. He was on the team that head coach Steve Farley inherited when he came to Butler in 1991 and has been an important leader of an alumni baseball group that has helped immeasurably with various projects recently at the baseball field.

Youngstown State scored nine runs in the first four innings of the game and went on to defeat the Butler baseball team, 12-2, Friday afternoon at Bulldog Park. Junior Grant Fillipitch led the Bulldogs with a 2-for-4 day with two RBIs, including a solo home run. The game was the Horizon League opener for both teams.

USA Advances To Gold Medal Game At U19 World Championship
Butlers Shelvin Mack hit a key jump shot down the stretch and Gordon Hayward added four free throws in the closing minute to help lead the USA to an 81-77 victory over Croatia in the semifinals of the 2009 FIBA U19 World Championship in Auckland, New Zealand. The victory propelled the unbeaten U.S. squad into the Gold Medal game against Greece.

Baseball Completes 2010 Recruiting Class
