Baseball Completes 2010 Recruiting Class

Baseball head coach Steve Farley put the finishing touches on the 2010 recruiting class on Tuesday (June 30), adding eight student-athletes to the roster to bring the total of incoming players to 14.  The octet will attend Butler and being practice with the Bulldogs in the fall of 2009.

The group joins six players who signed National Letters of Intent earlier in the year.

Bishop Chatard High School

Four-year varsity starter for Bishop Chatard High School...earned Indianapolis All-City Second Team honors as a shortstop in 2008...helped team to the 2007 sectional championship...squad earned a 3A No. 2 post season ranking in the state...earned all-state and academic all-state honors as a defensive back in football...helped team to the state championship in 2006 and 2007 and regional championship in 2008...member of the National Honor Society.

A 2009 D2 Preseason All-American First Team member while at Parkland College...2008 NJCAA All-American Second Team member, finishing in the top-25 in batting average, home runs and RBI...boasted a .403 career batting average at Parkland, the fourth-highest mark in school history...named the school's Male Athlete of the Year...earned all-conference, all-district and all-region honors...tabbed to the all-state team at Crete-Monee High School in 2007...SICA South Player of the Year in 2005 and 2007...received all-area recognition two seasons...a four-year all-conference honoree...four-year varsity starter and scholar athlete...named to the Chicago Tribune and Sun Times Top 100 in 2007.

Named to the all-conference team in co-captain as a senior...three-year varsity letterwinner...starting catcher as a sophomore, junior and senior...threw-out 60 percent of would-be base stealers...helped lead his summer team to the 2007 state championship and to a third-place finish in the Ohio Valley Regional...batted .405 with a 1.052 slugging percentage during the summer season...also played basketball and soccer in high school...member of the Honor Roll.
