Butler Baseball Enjoys Successful Alumni Games

An alumni baseball squad that included eight former or current professional players defeated Butler's current varsity team, 7-5, before a big crowd at Bulldog Park on Saturday, Sept. 26. Pro players returning to campus for the exhibition included pitchers Ryan Kruszka, Ryan Harber, John Corcoran and Brandon Leese.

Corcoran, Harber and Leese are all former conference Pitcher of the Year award winners.

Position players having pro ball experience included Eddie Olszta, Franco Dattilo, Joe Pauley and Jeff Albert. More than 30 alumni players participated in either the Legends game or the varsity game.

"It was a fantastic day for our program. To see all of the alumni, parents and fans having a good time made it a fun day," head coach Steve Farley said. "Everybody was very impressed when they toured the new indoor hitting facility and saw all of the recent field improvements.

"I think our guys underestimated the talent level of the alumni guys. We'll look forward to picking up the intensity when we start our Butler "World Series" games next week."
