Bulldogs Fall At Wright State

DAYTON, Ohio - Senior Corey Moylan hit a solo homer and senior Luke Duncan went 2-for-4 but the Butler baseball team dropped a 13-5 contest at Wright State on Thursday night. 

The Bulldogs trailed 4-0 early, but they stormed back to pull within 4-3 with three runs in the top of the 5th. Duncan and Moylan each had an RBI in the inning and freshman Patrick Guinane scored on a wild pitch. 

Senior Grant Fillipitch added an RBI single in the 8th inning before Moylan lifted a 1-0 pitch over the fence in left in the top of the 9th.

WSU, the leading team in the Horizon League, was led by Tristan Moore's 5-for-5 effort with four runs. Moore homered, stole a base and drove in five runs. Three other players had two hits apiece for the Raiders. Casey Henn allowed one earned run over 7.0 innings for the win. 

Butler (22-25-1, 10-13-1) and Wright State will play a doubleheader Friday, May 20 at Nischwitz Stadium starting at 2 p.m. The two games in Dayton are the final contests of the regular season for both teams. WSU (32-16, 15-6) owns a one-game lead over UIC for the top spot in the Horizon League.
