Butler Baseball Announces 2011 Schedule

INDIANAPOLIS – Trips to South Carolina and Florida and a tournament at the Metrodome highlight the 2011 Butler baseball schedule.  The Bulldogs have 25 home games on the schedule.

BU will open the season with four games in Spartanburg, S.C., Feb. 25-27. After week homestand, the Bulldogs then travel to the Metrodome in Minneapolis to play Minnesota, Illinois and Gonzaga. From Minnesota, BU then flies to Florida for Spring Break.

“We’ll get a good look at competitive teams from each region of the country,” head coach Steve Farley said. “It may seem strange to be traveling north to Minnesota to start off our spring break trip, but it is exciting to be playing the quality of competition we’ll face in the Metrodome Tournament.”

In addition to 26 Horizon League contests, the Bulldogs also take on regional opponents Notre Dame, Purdue, Indiana State, Ball State and Cincinnati.

“As usual, we have some good rivalry games lined up,” Farley said. “The Horizon League schedule is always a dogfight and we look forward to continuing our climb in the standings and competing for a championship this spring.”

Butler won 21 games last season and posted a winning record at home. Eight starters from last season’s team will return.
