Senior infielder Griffin Richeson and junior pitcher Chase Byerly have been named CoSIDA Academic All-District. The two Bulldogs earned the honor for stellar work on the diamond and in the classroom.

Richeson and Byerly were named to the 11-player NCAA Division I District 5 team. Both players own a 3.98 GPA in finance.

Richeson, a shortstop from West Lafayette, Ind., is batting .301 this season while making 44 starts in the infield. He also set Butler's single-season record for hit by pitch with 12 this season. His on-base percentage is .440.

Byerly, a reliever from Warsaw, Ind., has served primarily as Butler's closer. He has nine saves this year, setting a school single-season record. The right-hander also sports a 2.66 ERA with 25 strikeouts against just four walks.

The two standout Bulldogs were honored alongside fellow Horizon League players Jake Hibberd (Wright State) and Drew Dosch (Youngstown State). Toledo and Eastern Michigan also placed two players on the District 5 team.
