INDIANAPOLIS - Former Butler relief pitcher Jordan Goldschmidt has made the roster of the Rockford River Hawks of the Frontier League. Goldschmidt was part of BU's program for two years after transferring from Eastern Michigan.
Goldschmidt, who graduated from Butler in May, will head to Rockford, Ill., after working 27.1 innings over 15 appearances for the Bulldogs. He owned a 1-1 record, striking out 21 batters and walking 10. The right-hander pitched well in long outings to help Butler earn wins over Cincinnati, Youngstown State and UIC.
Goldschmidt, a native of Fort Loramie, Ohio, sat out the 2011 season after transferring to Butler. He pitched for EMU in 2008 and 2009 before suffering an elbow injury and missing the 2010 season. The 6-foot-5 Goldschmidt made 31 appearances during his time at Eastern Michigan.
As of Tuesday, July 10, Rockford is 19-28 and in sixth place of the Frontier League's Western Division. There are 14 teams in the Frontier League, spanning across Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and Michigan.
