Dalton's Team Takes 2-0 Lead In Butler Fall World Series
The squad coached by Michael Dalton took a pair of pitchers' duels to take a 2-0 lead in Butler's Fall World Series.
Prior to the opener, the Bulldogs had a moment of silence for former Butler pitcher Pat Neshek and his wife Stephanee on the loss of their newborn son, Gehrig John Neshek. Pat is a relief pitcher with the Oakland A's. The team also had a "mass first pitch" ceremony with each mom and dad in the stands throwing out a ceremonial first pitch to their son.
The blue team, coached by Brian Hiscox, scored an unearned run in the 2nd inning of game 2 and led the entire evening. In the bottom of the 6th, freshman Mike Kseniak smacked a two-run, walk-off single to left to give Dalton's team a 2-1 win. The pitching on both sides was strong with both starters, Gunner Johnson and Kevin Lenkman, pitching three innings each. Byerly and Kyle Allen were effective in relief.
The series is best-of-5. Game 3 will be played Wednesday, Oct. 17 after Butler's Fall Break.
