BARTOLONE, POBEREYKO PLAY IN MCL ALL-STAR GAME
Nick Bartolone and newcomer Danny Pobereyko were selected to play in the Midwest Collegiate League All-Star Game last week. Bartolone started in right field and Poberekyo was available as a relief pitcher. Assistant coach Miles Miller was on hand to tweet a photo.

Bartolone, who will be a sophomore in 2014, and new recruit Pobereyko both play for the Northwest Indiana Oil Men. Bartolone batted .270 in 37 at-bats as a freshman this season. Pobereyko is a right-handed pitcher from Munster, Ind., who played high school baseball at Bishop Noll.

 

MILLER, FRIES REPRESENT BU AT HAMPTONS LEAGUE ALL-STAR GAME
Austin Miller and Michael Fries played in the Hamptons Collegiate League All-Star Game on July 13. Miller and Fries each played for the North team, which defeated the South 4-1. Both Butler players singled in the game, while Miller also stole a base and scored a run.

Fries, playing this summer for North Fork, was Butler's starting leftfielder and hit .265 with 13 doubles in the spring. Miller was a reserve infielder hitting .308 in 52 at-bats.

 

CALDERON A NORTHWOODS LEAGUE ALL-STAR
Marcos Calderon, Butler's starting centerfielder, was named to the North roster for the Northwoods League All-Star game. The game will be Tuesday, July 23 in Eau Claire, Wis.

Calderon, a native of Miami, Fla., is batting .315 this summer for the Waterloo Bucks. He's second on the team with 26 RBIs. The lefty outfielder batted .268 with 12 extra-base hits batting leadoff for Butler in the spring.

 

HADDAD CONTINUES WITH STATEN ISLAND YANKEES
Radley Haddad, who signed a free agent contract with the Yankees, has played in three games for the team's Staten Island club in the New York-Penn League. He hit a clutch RBI single in his first game and is currently 2-for-10 with a pair of walks.
