INDIANAPOLIS -- The Butler baseball program added two new assistant coaches to the staff this fall with the hiring of Minnesota natives Pat Casey and Andy Judkins.
Casey, a former player at the University of North Dakota, will work with Bulldog hitters and infielders. He will have additional duties as team travel coordinator and with recruiting. Casey was named Coach of the Year this past summer in the Northwoods League, one of the top college summer leagues in the country. His Waterloo, IA team set new team and league win records. Current Butler players Marcos Calderon, Eric Stout and Kyle Kramp played for the Waterloo Bucs.
Casey previously served as a scout for the Minnesota Twins and as an assistant coach at St. Thomas University. St. Thomas won the 2009 DIII National Championship in baseball.
Andy Judkins played at Concordia University in St. Paul, MN and will work with Butler hitters and catchers. He will have additional duties with recruiting and as umpire coordinator.
Judkins has college coaching experience at Minnesota State, Central Arizona College and he was on the staff at Southern Illinois University for the 2013 season. Like Coach Casey, Judkins also has experience in the summer Northwoods League, having been the Field Manager at Thunder Bay in 2012 and an assistant coach at Rochester in 2011.
Judkins's wife, Tracie, is a teacher at Bishop Chatard HS and they have a young son, Jerrick.
